Navajo EMS Advanced OB & Pediatric Complications

CAPCE ID: 26-GRMT-F3-0029 This self-paced activity is designed for advanced EMS providers and focuses on high-risk obstetric, neonatal, and pediatric emergencies. Using case-based discussion, participants will review ALS assessment, early recognition of deterioration, treatment priorities, medication considerations, and transport decisions. Topics include maternal assessment, high-risk pregnancy complications, postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia/eclampsia, maternal trauma, complicated delivery, neonatal resuscitation, pediatric respiratory distress and failure, shock, seizures, altered mental status, dehydration, sepsis, weight-based medication dosing, vascular access, and communication with medical control and receiving facilities. Learning Objectives At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to: • Identify high-risk OB, neonatal, and pediatric emergencies requiring ALS care • Describe assessment and treatment priorities for pregnant, postpartum, neonatal, and pediatric patients • Recognize maternal, neonatal, and pediatric deterioration in the field • Apply appropriate ALS interventions, medication considerations, airway support, and transport decisions • Communicate patient status, treatments, complications, and transport priorities clearly Completion Requirements • Complete the full course • Pass the post-test with a score of 80% or higher • Complete the course evaluation Certificate Information: CAPCE credit
